Today was a mostly low-key day on the prospective homestead. We did go by the realtor's office that showed us the property on Friday to officially bring him on as our buyer agent. All the other realtors I've called haven't bothered to return my calls from last week so, he gets the chance. It's true that we're not going to net him a huge commission, because we're not planning on spending a huge amount of money. But he won't go uncompensated for his time. When we told him today we needed land for greenhouses to grow coral and anemones, he was quite impressed and seemed even more determined to help us find our homestead site. He said he lived in Florida for a decade or so and his oldest son wanted to be a marine biologist at one time. He emailed us a few listings a couple of days ago and we may go look at a few of them in the next few days. There was no more news from the property we looked at Friday, other than the fact that the seller's agent hadn't called back with any answers to our questions.
No fish moved today or fish tanks broken down, as I'm hoping someone buys the gold-striped maroon clownfish so I don't have to move it to another tank *then* catch it and send it home with the buyer. I did throw some prunings of caulerpa macro-algae in with the clownfish and sailfin tang, in hopes of training the tang to eat the pestiferous stuff. I also started making an inventory of coral frags I have that are ready to be sold, and will start taking pictures of them tomorrow at the end of their nightly light period. Once I sell the frags, I'll be able to eliminate one set of lights, pumps, heaters and a skimmer from our electric usage, which will allow us to save more money for our homestead purchase.
I've started reading Mortgage Free! now that Greg's finished reading it, and he's moved on to reading Building Green. The reading and research will help, but as far as building, we really won't know what we're doing until we actually get hands-on and start building. :)
